Open AI is going to rock your world
I recently attended a conference on artificial intelligence and was really blown away by the incredible work that’s being done. One of the breakout sessions I attended went into the wonders of what people are doing with AI these days. They even demonstrated how quickly neural networks can learn by identifying objects in photos, and as I was sitting in the audience watching the presenter demonstrate the capabilities of the neural network I was struck by how much the technology has changed. Here are a few examples of some of the things being powered by OpenAI

The session was geared towards software developers and a new tool called GitHub Copilot. The tool uses AI to anticipate the code that you are trying to write. It works by monitoring your interactions with the computer and then making predictions about what you’ll type next. It’s pretty amazing because it can accurately predict the lines of code that you will type in the future, even before you start typing them! Or even suggest an approach that might be more efficient than the one you were about to take.
The presenters at the conference showed how developers are using it to write code more efficiently in JavaScript, C#, and Python. But it is fluent in much more than those languages! This means it has the potential to drastically increase productivity and make developer’s lives easier. The code you write doesn’t have to be perfect the first time because you won’t have to spend as much time rewriting it! It will also be able to identify bad practices that you may have fallen into and help you correct them.
Coding is one thing but there are many other applications that this technology can be used for as well. For example, there are an increasing number of voice activated interfaces on the market that are powered by artificial intelligence. These allow you to use voice commands to control smart home devices, play music, and even order takeout from your favorite restaurant. Having an AI that can understand what you’re saying and being able to respond in a timely manner is a huge leap forward for these applications. And that’s really just the tip of the iceberg! As you can see, this technology is changing the way we interact with computers and it has incredible potential to improve our lives in many different ways. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for this amazing technology!
